The Five Loves

C. S. Lewis wrote a book titled The Four Loves. I believe that there are five loves, just like there are five fingers on the human hand–including the thumb!

  •       P
  •     LOVE
  •       E
  • NUMBER One: The Impossible Request
  • “Do you think you
  • Could write a poem
  • On love…like real
  • Love? Voice over?”
  • She asked morning
  • Tuesday questions
  • Needing wisdom
  • Without a rhyme.
  • Years and books and
  • Poet history
  • All have wanted
  • To make it clear.
  • Syntax, sextax!
  • Lingua franca.
  • Window of soul?
  • Body language.
  •                P
  •              LOVE
  •                E
  •           NUMBER Two: Like Holding the Ocean in a Teacup
  • Vast as seascape
  • Finite as sand
  • Fleet as footprint
  • Strong as hand
  • Waving motions
  • Circular paths
  • Tiny anchors
  • Multiple maths
  • Vision on beach
  • Lesson to teach
  • To other each
  • A goal to reach
  • Kundalini
  • In a Speedo
  • Her bikini
  • Ocean credo
  •                P
  •              LOVE
  •                E
  •           NUMBER Three: Something So Different
  • No two snowflakes
  • Are ever same
  • No two people
  • Reside in name.
  • Experience
  • Creates the set
  • Shapes and phrases
  • In our own net.
  • He says love
  • She says laughter
  • Some agree on
  • Ever after.
  • One and one are
  • One plus one is
  • All are equal
  • Single business.
  •                P
  •              LOVE
  •                E
  •           NUMBER Four: It is Always The Individual Up and Down
  • “Packaged loving”
  • Sings the chorus
  • He and she sing
  • “Woe is poor us!”
  • The best is group
  • Solo honor
  • Keep to the loop
  • It’s not gone, er….
  • Say it is or
  • Say it over
  • Say it as a
  • Later lover
  • The you is three
  • The letters wise
  • No one else sees
  • As with your eyes.
  •                P
  •              LOVE
  •                E
  •           NUMBER Five: The Fifth Love
  • He once wrote of
  • Pushes and shoves
  • That are involved
  • In The Four Loves.
  • Love at that time
  • Was not as swift
  • He’d forgotten
  • That there’s a fifth.
  • Romance eros
  • Affection storge
  • Friendship philo
  • Agape: forge.
  • In Love at fifth
  • The spirals bend
  • Unconditioned
  • Powers ascend.
